    "Disc shot."

Bit of shameless self-promotion: I've got an animated webcomic going, supermassiveblackholeastar.com (say *that* five times fast); that's my own banner you see at the top of the page. My excuse for mentioning it here is that it's got a shiny forum thing, and some of the discussion may end up being game related; I've just ditched the (PC) game industry after ten years. I'm not sure if that's good yet, but I *do* have way more free time now.

It's been quite some time since I've been able to pump updates out here on anything approaching a regular basis--probably been something like two years or so, in fact. Hopefully I'll manage to put some more time into it here; I've certainly got plenty of games to catch up on.

Since I got back at it, I noticed that the equipment I have pretty much sucks for video capture. Fortunately, the world has caught up since I started this project, and these days you can just YouTube up whatever footage you need of whatever game you like, and it's footage that's much more technically adequate than what I can currently hope to provide. So I'll rely on the Internet at large to keep that aspect of things covered.

I'm currently thinking I'll at least post up a photo of the game media, if any, to give the site at least *some* graphical input. Besides, you don't really see disc shots organized in a reliable way around the web--well, I don't--and, most importantly, this will save me from scratching my head and wondering what the heck import game a given disk is as I flip through my various binders. Not that I'm going to manage to update all my old entries any time soon, or that there are...any real imports coming out these days (well, okay, there are a few here and there, and hopefully Japan will be catching up eventually), but hey, I'll just have to settle for being ahead of my time again. *cough*

Figured I should mention that a firmware update for PS3 did in fact make my Hori stick compatible with PS2 games, yay! And, as I predicted, they're making a Dual Shock 3 now that they've settled that rumble lawsuit.

I think it's unfortunate that Sony is taking PS2 compatibility out of new PS3s. They do need to find a way to lower the price, though, if they ever want to get that install base up to the piont where they can start attracting more game developers, especially in Japan. Just glad I got a couple of the original 60 GB PS3s, I guess.
