Not so! I've spent quite a bit of time in the bathroom playing Tecmo Super Bowl emulated on the DS. It's pretty great. What I'm really hoping for is an XBLA version of sorts, just for multiplayer.

If only you could play XBLA games while sitting on the toilet. I discovered recently that I can see my TV from the toilet in my house. My controller won't reach, but I guess that wouldn't be a problem with the 360.

No doubt. All the new systems are really amazing but the best thing about them all is the wireless remote that lets you power them up and down wirelessly.

I just... love that. Like, I love turning my Wii on and to standby mode using the remote. For some reason that makes it seem even more... immediate. In a good way. And I use the truly wonderful Logitech wireless PS2 controller for my PS2 slim. It's got a good heft to it, feels wonderful, has terrific rumble, and responds wonderfully.

The NES one I presume? I just love the simplicity and pick-up-and-play nature of the TB/TSB games. The later ones just became too chunky, like Tecmo stopped caring. The UI was awful, the graphics were chunked, and the vibe was just gone.

Hell yes - I didn't like sports games and I loved Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl. It's really accessible, and Tecmo boiled down the essence of the game into Tecmo Bowl. Much more straightforward than any other football game, and even better because they kept a lot of the plays simple and very few. The original TB had only four offensive and four defensive plays per team, and it still was loads of fun. I think I was spoiled by the minimalism of TB; my buddies ate up Madden '92 and '93 on the Genesis in college, but man, I hated those games. I was always so confused by them and wished for a simpler time. A time of Tecmo Bowl.

I don't think any video game based on football could be the sports game for people who don't like sports. Speaking as a person who doesn't like sports, football has to be the most inane thing humans have ever done. To make a decent sports game for non sports fans, you've got to start with something at least mildly interesting like basketball (NBA Jam) or tennis (Virtua Tennis), I think. Or possibly one-on-one frisbee-dodgeball.

If you played Tecmo Bowl on the Playstation then this is the best news ever. I'm glad they're going with the original formula. Besides, "update" is such a loaded word. Let's wait until we see some screenshots or video of it in motion.
