These are probably obvious but Gradius Galaxies and the R-Type 3 port for GBA are really nice. I'm not huge on Gradius but Galaxies gets the job done. R-Type 3 I love. Other than that I really don't know of anything you wouldn't (like Cotton on the NGP). There was a score attack bullet hell type vertical shooter released for DSiWare recently but I have no idea if it is any good.

I don't think so, but it's possible. At this point I could be letting my love of the original confuse me. I don't have a copy of the GBA port here to check out. I know I was disappointed they took out the cheesy launch sequence. Anyways, I can definitely vouch for Gradius Galaxies. I played a little of that after I made the above post and it's still rad.
