Posted by SignOfZeta on May 25, 2016 at 15:00:11 EST in reply to what in the ever loving heck happened to the MVS market? I mean, I realize people will move to cheaper options and then those options get more expensive but unless my concept of time is way off it seems to have exploded in the past year. I got a consolized MVS from a buddy who makes them and he sort of joked that they caused the market to rise but I can't honestly see that, consolized MVS systems are way more expensive than the cabs (unless those jumped, too) so I don't see that having a huge effect. League Fucking Bowling is now 60 bucks? Anyway, I'm more than happy playing these off of cheap multicarts, I got the Omega console through a deal, and this was never going to be a "collection" but there are some games, namely Windjammers, that aren't one any yet and heck, if I'm going to spend 250 on a game it's going to be something I really want for my PCE collection. from twelvest.

I guess the completists must be ruining it. I paid maybe $30 for Leagy B maybe 5 years ago, maybe half that. At the same time I got a complete KOF 2003 kit for $70. The fighting games and Metal Slugs have always outnumbered the sports games and the earlier titles by a huge margin. Between the 100 Mega Shock era and GigabPower everything about the way Neo was sold in the arcade changed. In a normal market this is OK because that interest level scales more or less evenly. In this fucked up money bags classic gaming shitstorm world we live in now though everyone has to have every game, even ones they hate or will never play. This causes those games that were cheap to rise in price much the same way Contra for NES is now $35. I don't like these kids. I don't like them at all.
