I'm not keen on some of the new animations and characters either (although some of the other new characters look pretty neat!), but the developer video and the smiles on the faces of people playing demos at fighting game tournaments convinced me the game would just be fun. Haven't played the demo much yet. Did you find the AI challenging? I noticed it's on a 5-point scale now rather than the old Neo-Geo 8-point scale. (n/t) from Paleface.
I haven't played a lot against the AI, mostly local versus. What little I played against the AI seemed perfectly doable on the standard difficulty. I did feel the tutorial was a bit cumbersome. But then I'm not a big fan of stuff like MAX mode and all the exclusive cancels you can do while powered up.
