In the months since this was posted I have regressed. I play almost nothing but Riichi City where I do OK. I’m constantly moving between 3rd and 4th dan. I need to like…read some shit or something…if I want to get past this limit.
My 10 year old is so good at Mario Kart 8 that I literally cannot beat him anymore at all. I used to be able to lose him at Yoshi’s Circuit because I’m best at the tight tracks but even that now is impossible. He’s so fast now he mostly plays 200cc which I didn’t realize anyone enjoyed. He’s figured out that all the lines are different with the faster car and now cuts corners in ways that can’t be done in the lower classes.
The kid has go so little mercy that after blowing away the entire pack half way into the race he just parks the kart and waits for them to pass just so that the item boxes will give him blue shells again and then he blows everyone away again and wins the race. At 200cc! He’s the Skill Smith of Mario Kart 8 and I’m *terrible* at Mario Kart 8, I guess. Dang.
If he ever gets into SF or KOF I’m going to start going to church again. I’m serious. Not only in gratitude to God but also for spiritual support because he’ll be double perfecting me daily if he ever decides to pay attention to fighting games.
