I bet it's in the manual if I had that handy! My best guess is it's to hold the dongle on the wireless communication thingie. It's just about the right size, it looks like it's meant to hold a cylinder, seems like the thing to me. See inside: from exodus.
I don't think I have that quite right as the dongle is meant to hang, but this image here has a descriptor for it, and it says "for wireless communication-compatible software," so it's definitely something to do with that.
