Okay, here's what I found going through their tweets. It might be that they initially got some blowback, and so started putting disclaimers on things to be able to avoid some bother.

It's a little tough to tell. This is a person--the person?--involved in releasing MOW2 stuff this summer

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1544718264839729152

They had also at some point worked for SNK, and rescued a bundle of VHS tapes that were about to be thrown out

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1587091320882896897

and put them on YouTube, saying

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1587091748525772800

'I wanted to preserve not only commercials and PVs, but also videos of "Band of Fighters" for future generations.'

Their last tweet is

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1587092114772348928

'“Once a maniac joined a company he admired, the management was going downhill, so he used his observation skills to preserve important materials, but he forgot about their existence and finally released them 20 years later, and it took a year and three months to reveal everything. The matter that has been made public
Completely finished.'

In May they had posted a couple screenshots from this MotM2 thing

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1522229594476015619

but then in August

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1559583634285219840

they said

"【apology】
The following images that I posted before are fan-made art that has nothing to do with SNK.
If there is a similar post this month, please understand that it has nothing to do with SNK.
Please refrain from mentioning related parties as it may cause inconvenience."

And in a tweet of the title screen after that

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1564282509684133889

they said

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1564282509684133889

"From next month, I think I'll start working on the final purpose of creating this Twitter account.

Oh, I'll say it again and again, but it's a fan-made work like MUGEN, it's a fake image, and it's all fiction, so it doesn't matter.
I would appreciate it if you could simply enjoy it while imagining various things."

Soon after that, they tweet vs screens, without any kind of disclaimer

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1566368992465276931

saying

"The nameless SNK character looks like Eri from Metal Slug."

But soon after that, they tweet more screens

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1566790325183467520

with a disclaimer

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1566790325183467520

"Oh, it's a fanart."

And from that point, they're consistent in referring to screenshots as "fanart" (this is all Google Translate, of course), and videos as "fake video." There are a few mentions of trying to make sure that "overseas" viewers understand. ...

Here, someone asks in Japanese if these are a "hackrom"

https://twitter.com/yocchi1201/status/1572396792310018048

to which this person replies

'What I'm uploading is just a fake video.
Is there such a thing as "Hackrom"?'

Eight days later, there are a couple more elaborate disclaimers, beginning to sound a bit parodic

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1575528687490899970

'It is a fake video (2/2) of Hotaru.

Additional Special Moves and Super Special Moves.
I didn't know much about M○W, but I can understand that this is a different character's technique.

"This fake video is fiction. It has nothing to do with a real person (big brother), group, special move, super special move, etc."'

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1576388924489932806

'K°'s fake video (2/2).

"This fake video is fiction. It has nothing to do with real people (clones), groups (NESTS), special moves, super special moves, etc."

In the second half, I recorded a collection of continuous tricks.
It's very moving to think that something like this was made more than 20 years before the release of the K0F2000.'

It's unclear could be meant by "KOF2000" there. But aside from that, "more than 20 years" from now would date it back to the MotM era, which would preclude it from being a homebrew. So... Hm.

About this time there's an odd series of tweets involving "fake" and "fiction" and someone getting offended--although that might have been in relation to something else:

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1577674953662468098

'Speaking of which, at my job interview,
"Can you tell us about our company's games?"
when asked
"... For the time being, is it okay if I start with the games I've played in order from the New Japan Planning era?
"Sasuke vs Commander, Athena, Psycho..."
When I told
"Ah, that's enough."
He said.'

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1577871784069976064

"Last night's retweet seemed to have offended Mr. Tsui very badly, so I deleted it.
I reflect on various things."

https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1578086126014722048

"Speaking of which, the job interview I tweeted the other day is of course a fake story.
I don't think I will say such a big deal anymore, but I hope you will continue to accept it as a fictional story."

They also https://twitter.com/2021Kduck/status/1578748057604091905 call the videos "retakes," because they didn't like the "composition" they had shot a month earlier.

So uh anyway, it sounds like perhaps they got some blowback on posting stuff, and decided to start putting disclaimers on things to be able to avoid some hassle. Don't know, it's kind of hard to tell.
