But then the shop sells expensive gear that boosts a player's speed, which kind of breaks the game in a funny way. You can put a stamina boost and a speed boost on the same guy and just have him run all around the field and none of the CPU players can catch you. Played it off and on for a month and it was entertaining. Won the NG Cup 4 or 5 times. Like SignOfZeta said, once you figure it out it's time to put it away. Sonic Pocket Adventure in July for me.

I guess one parting fun bit - you can get a pair of cleat studs that insta-injure anybody you tackle. Normally this gives you a red card and a 2 game suspension, which sucks... But there's a "Gentleman" ring you can get that prevents you from getting red cards... Which means you can theoretically slowly injure the entire opposing team until they're all hobbling along at a snail's pace. The CPU doesn't seem to do substitutions for injured players. It's not a perfect game but it's more fun than you would think.
